Welcome to the Trans Pennine Trail
A national coast to coast route for recreation and transport – for walkers, cyclists and (in parts) horse riders
Rotherham – Town Centre – The TPT will be closed from 1st July 2020 to Tuesday 31st August 2021 to enable construction of a new pumping station as part of Rotherham’s flood defence programme (link to notice). A signed diversion will be in place for Trail users between Steel Street and Main Street for the duration of the works. See it here.
As the TPT route runs along the riverside through the centre of York it is prone to flooding during periods of wet weather. Please check the status of the river before you travel. The level of the River Ouse can be checked here
North Ferriby to Humber Bridge – Network Rail will be carrying out intermittent repairs during 2020 which will necessitate a diversion along this section of route. At these times closure notices will be placed at the start and end of the works and include details of the TPT diversion which will be via the alternative TPT route already signed. The dates are March 2020 to January 2021. Please see the diversion here
Humber Bridge – The Environment Agency will be carrying out flood defence works which will involve periodic restrictions around the Humber Bridge on Cliff Road over the course of the following 12 months. During these times the road alternative will still be available as an alternative. January 2020
Hull Flood Defence Programme – The promenade along the Victoria Dock Village (west) frontage will be closed from Monday 10th June. The TPT has been diverted – see plan for diversion. The diversion is in place to enable the Environment Agency Flood Defence Programme to commence.
