BHS Ride - Penistone - Saturday 24th April 2010

The weather couldn't have been better for our riders on the first of our Anniversary Rides if we'd have booked it ourselves - blue skies and sunshine were the order of the day.

24 riders took part on the day of which 22 did the full ride (the two slightly later starters did the shorter ride).  £240 ride entry fees will be donated to the British Horse Society Access Fund, a very big thank you to all of you who gave your support.

With thanks also to:
Paul Higgins, TPT Volunteer Ranger, who very efficiently and affably dealt with parking at Dunford Bridge.
Jason Skeen and Richard Wright, both TPT Volunteer Rangers for their wonderful assistance with the Manchester Road section.
Thank you to Kath Lomas-Button, Julie Roche and Nicky Wareing, our superb half-way checkpoint team.

Electricity Alliance were star players for the day by allowing extra parking facilities for the large number of horse boxes and also for porviding essential portaloos for the day.  We must say a personal thank you to Derek Owens, Civil Works Supervisor, for all his work before and during the ride and also to the security staff at the National Grid compound for allowing the event to go ahead without a hitch.

Finally the TPT Office would like to say a personal thank you to Georgina Hartley of the BHS for organising the ride and also to Elaine for helping out with the paperwork on the day.  Both fantastic star players.

Feedback from the riders showed that the ride was extremely enjoyable and very well organised.  Well done to everyone!

Sarah Ullyott has got in touch to say. 'I really enjoyed it and so did Toby and my Dad - it was a great day out!'
If any other riders would like to leave there own messages please drop us a line info@transpenninetrail.org.uk, we'd love to hear from you.

Another rider, Karen Toon would like to add, 'We enjoyed the ride very much and was much better than expected.  Everyone was very helpful from parking to stewards. A big thank you to you all.  Even the weather was good to us. We are hoping to take part in some of the others too.'

'Thank you for a lovely day last Saturday.  It was excellent that you booked the sunshine as well.' From Rachel Platts on Solo and Derryth Hope on Charlie.

Here are the photos of the rosettes being presented.  If you're a rider and would like a copy of your photo / your name adding your website photo, again, please get in touch.  More photos here.

It was a pleasure to meet all the riders, Georgina, Elaine, Paul, Derek and the security team on the day - apologies I didn't get to meet those of you out marshaling on the route but we are very grateful for your fantastic support.  Mandy, TPT HQ.
