Halton's New Flower
Widnes Warth has gained a 14m high piece of public art constructed alongside the Trans Pennine Trail. The 14m high and 4.5m wide Future Flower is located on Widnes Warth Nature Reserve, within the Widnes Waterfront regeneration area on the north bank of the River Mersey.
The Future Flower landmark was designed by award winning architects Tonkin Liu. It is made of 120 perforated galvanised steel petals. There are 60 low voltage red LEDs located within the steel frame which are powered by the 3 wind turbines located on the stem. The Flower starts to produce light with winds of 7mph. The maximum light intensity is reached at winds of 14mph.
