TPT re-opens through Staveley
The major road project that has closed and diverted the TPT for 2 1/2 years has now completed and the TPT is now back open through Staveley. Trail Users now have the choice of routes either:
-
continuing along the old railway path to Poolsbrook and on to Chesterfield - this is available to walker, cyclists and horse riders. Some minor works are still required that may cause slight disruption.
-
Following the Chesterfield canal towpath to Tapton Lock and then into Chestefield. This route is only available to walkers and cyclists. A 100m section of this route immediately north of Hall Lane has only a temporary surface which while suitable for mountain bike, may not be suitable for road bikes in wet conditions. This will be addressed within the next few months with the development of a new canal basin on this site.
We apologise for the over-running of these lengthy works, but encourage everyone to get out and enjoys this 'new, section of the route again!
